A Celebration of Christian Bergmann

The library recently hosted a program to celebrate the donation of the collected letters of Christian Friedrich Bergmann. Herr Bergmann chronicled his immigrant journey from Saxony to the new world, settling in Kendall County to build a new life. The letters are a part of our permanent collection of the library‚Äôs Dietert Historical Archives. You can find out more about this German pioneer

The library's subscription provides unlimited searching of the secure NEHGS online databases through the American Ancestors website, which can be accessed from all the public computers within the library. Patrons also have online access to the NEHGS's two periodicals, American Ancestors magazine and The New England Historical and Genealogical Register.
