Ron Bowman began his career with the City of Boerne in 1980 as
Administrative Assistant to the City Administrator. He served in that
capacity until June of 1983 when he was appointed to be the City
In 1995 the citizens of Boerne voted to become a Home Rule City, and Mr.
Bowman was named the City of Boerne's first City Manager. He has just
completed thirty years of public service to the City of Boerne.<
Ron was born and spent his first 19 years in the former Panama Canal
Zone. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a
Master of Public Administration degree both from St. Mary's University
in San Antonio, Texas.
He is a member in the Boerne Rotary Club, is a past president of this
organization, and is a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a member of the
International City Management Association and has recently been
nominated to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Public
Additionally he has served on the boards of the Association of Wholesale
Customers, the Texas Public Power Association (of which he is a past
president), the Texas City Management Association, the LCRA Gentex Power
Plant board of directors and the Texas Municipal Gas Association.
