STAGE 1 WATER RESTRICTIONS BEING IMPLEMENTED starting July 14, 2017

“Until we get more rain we must all do our part to limit outdoor water use as much as possible,” city officials said. Under the Stage 1 rules Boerne Water Utility customers are required to observe outdoor watering restrictions for landscape irrigation. Both residential and commercial customers are permitted to use individual sprinklers or sprinkler systems for lawns, gardens or other landscaped areas only on “designated outdoor water use days and at designated times”, twice weekly. “While the City of Boerne continues to have adequate total water supplies from three water sources, meeting the daily peak is challenging when summer outdoor irrigation is typically highest,” reports deputy city manager, Jeff Thompson. On the designated watering days, sprinkler irrigation is only allowed between the hours of 7:00 pm to 11:00 am. Designated watering days have been assigned according to the last number of the street address as follows: LAST DIGIT OF ADDRESS OUTDOOR WATERING DAY

0 or 1  -  Monday/ Saturday

2 or 3  -  Tuesday/ Saturday

4 or 5  -  Wednesday/Saturday

6 or 7  -  Thursday/Sunday

8 or 9  -  Friday/Sunday

In Stage 1, City of Boerne water customers should curtail all non-essential water use; however watering of lawns or landscaped areas is permitted anytime if using a hand-held hose, a drip irrigation system, or a bucket no larger than 5 gallons.  “We are continuing to see outdoor water use rising steadily while we are in this dry and hot weather pattern again,” Thompson adds. “We are starting to see water production hit an all-time high of 3 million gallons per day, just as it did during the previous few summers. If Stage 1 restrictions are not effective enough, we will need to consider implementing Stage 2 conservation measures which are even more restrictive.”
