Rates Increasing Slightly for Residential Waste Collection

City of Boerne residential customers that have their garbage and recyclables collected through the City’s contract with Waste Management will see a slight increase in their monthly garbage bill. Effective March 1, 2018 the monthly base garbage rate will increase to $17.07 for customers with one residential waste wheeler. The new monthly rate for customers with a single waste wheeler plus a ninety-six gallon recycling cart will be $20.32 and the rate for customers with two waste wheelers will be $22.44. All of these rates will have applicable sales tax added. Garbage collection rates also include one scheduled brush pick up per year per billing account and additional brush collections can be scheduled for a $25.00 plus tax fee per pick up. The Spring and Fall bulky item collections are included in the monthly rate. Boerne Utilities customers can sign up for electronic bill paying services which includes web payment and automatic credit card or checking account drafts to save time and money. Customers also have the option of signing up for the Average Monthly Payment plan so that monthly bills are about the same amount each month, making budgeting simpler.

The contract between the City of Boerne and Waste Management, Inc. provides for an annual increase based on the CPI (consumer price index). This year the increase equates to just over two percent.
